Japan: First Attempt of Using Blockchain Technology in Voting

ITmedia NEW

In Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, there was an online voting using personal identification number card and blockchain technology, which was the first attempt in Japan. This voting method will be used for the final review of the “Tsukuba Society 5.0 Social Installation Test Support Project” held in late August. Participants can vote for the project with their personal identification number cards. And because of the characteristics of the blockchain, it is possible to prevent the voting content from being forged and to keep the voting result confidential. (Japanese)
